vintage notesAfter a relatively mild and little rainy winter climate, May showed an important drop in temperatures with abundant rainfall: if on the one hand the vegetative cycle of the vine has slowed down, on the other the rains rebalanced the soil. A hot and dry summer, with no hot peaks, re-established the times and preserve the leaves, intact and efficient, thanks to water reserves as well. A mild September with high temperature excursions between day and night, was fundamental for a slow and homogeneous maturation of the grapes. The harvest postponed to beginning of October, was perfect in terms of quality and quantity.

vintage notesDuring winter season we had a lot of rain with even snow, thanks to them we filled the hydro gap from last year. Spring time registered temperatures over the seasonal average and summer time was characterized by high temperatures, interrupted by some storms. In September, despite few rainfalls, warm temperatures lead to a good ripening of the grapes.

vintage notesDespite higher spring temperatures than the avarage with less rainfalls and a dry and hot summertime, grapes were in perfect shape thanks to the clay soil that hold water deeper, surviving the drought of the whole year. Consequently vines soffered, getting a faster maturation of the grapes. Few rainfalls in september brought a balance that allow us to harvest at the beginning of the month. A good vintage, with -30% of the entire production due to the frost we had in April when bud breaks already started due to higher temperatures.

vintage notesA mild winter and a hot April, anticipated of 15 days the vegetative development of the vines. May and June were characterized of cooler temperatures and rain, that moisturize the soil and restored the right times. Summer was hot but with balanced temperatures. In the first 15 days of September, the temperature range was perfect between day and night, this leaded to the ripening with a good sugar level of the grapes, rich in acidity, color and perfumes, and the harvest started in the late September. A great vintage, with a particular charm.

vintage notesRainy winter with temperatures over the average, followed by a fresh and rich in rainfalls spring, that lasted until July. Due to late blooming and veraison, the ripening came only at the end of September. An unusual season with difficult weather conditions, but a good harvest, thanks to specific agricultural practices.

vintage notesRegular rainfalls and stable winter temperatures brought to a suitable vegetative development. Fresh summer and a good temperature range, helped a slow ripening of grapes and created the perfect conditions for a traditional harvest in the first 10 days of October. One of the last vintages to have a constant climate, remembering harvests of the’80s.

vintage notesAn unusual vintage for Brunello, a very warm winter compared to local average and lot of snow at the end of the winter season, that risked to freeze the buds. The spring was constant with good trends, but the vines suffered in summer, too hot and dry, and no rain until August. This was less dramatic than expected thanks to the snow of February, which permitted water reserves. Late August registered drop in temperature and good temperature range, the harvest was in time at late September in ideal conditions.

vintage notesA lot of rainfalls in springtime and high temperatures caused an early vegetative phase of 15 days in advance with an anticipated veraison in the mid July. The second half of August was characterized by a pronounced raising of the temperatures that brought a rebalancing. High temperatures even in September contributed the raising of sugar level in the grapes. The clayey soil releasing the last stored water and allowed us to harvest healthy and highly concentrated grapes.

vintage notesA perfect climate with snowy and rainy winter and spring lead to water the ground deeper. Thanks to that the vines did not suffer a lot during the really hot July. After a great temperature range in September, we do assist to a rarity, because grapes reached ripening while the vines were still in vegetation. This allowed us to harvest in the beginning of October and high quality grapes with a perfect phenolic and technological ripening - values not easy to find in Sangiovese varietal, an unforgettable vintage.
